What is Prompt library?

A prompt library is an organised, searchable collection of proven prompts and templates — the fix for "does anyone have the prompt Sarah wrote?"

Individuals accumulate prompts in notes; teams accumulate them in chat threads. A library gives each prompt one home, a clear name, the full text, a note on what it's for and who owns it — and ideally a way to run it so you can see it work before you copy it.

The difference between a folder of text and a library is structure: prompts written in the same shape, tagged by task and field, versioned, with a definition of a good output. That's what makes them findable and maintainable.

How to use it well
  1. Organise by the job to be done, not by who wrote it.
  2. Store the structured version, not a screenshot of a chat.
  3. Retire what nobody runs.
